Challenge two great Donald Ross courses and enjoy outstanding hospitality at the Pinehurst area's Pine Needles and Mid Pines resorts. Designed in 1927, Pine Needles offers the opportunity to play golf the way it was meant to be played on a traditional Ross layout that meanders through the rolling hills and longleaf pines of the Sandhills area.
This classic course hosted the U.S. Women's Open Championships in 1996 and 2001, and the Open returns again in 2007. Mid Pines golf course remains virtually unchanged since opening in 1921 and remains one of the finest examples of Ross' skills. Mid Pines was the site for the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Championship in 2002.
The Mid Pines Inn presents a wonderful balance of old-time charm and modern amenities. The 66 rooms in the Inn have been recently renovated. Mid Pines also offers seven villas that sit along the 10th fairway and are perfect for groups up to 20 golfers, families enjoying reunions or small business meetings.
Pine Needles' 11 rustic lodges provide exceptional comfort with all of today's modern conveniences. The chalet-style lodges are connected to the clubhouse, which contains the full-service dining room, lounge and golf shop. Guests also come to improve their golf games at the Learning Center, which features skilled instructors mentored by Peggy Kirk Bell, a charter member of the LPGA and multi-championship titleholder in amateur and professional tournaments.
