There's Great Golf Around Every Corner In North Carolina

International Visitors Please Click Here

Not only does North Carolina offer tremendous golfing choices and four-season pleasures, but it's easy to get here as well. Virtually every corner of the state is readily accessible by car, plane and train.

Easy Access

An outstanding series of well-maintained interstates and highways cross North Carolina. Most major airlines serve the state through major hubs in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, with air service available to smaller communities as well. Amtrak also provides service throughout the state.

Great Places To Stay

Whether your preference is a four-star resort or quaint inn, you'll never have a problem satisfying your desires in North Carolina. From the mountains to the coast, the choice of lodging is outstanding. You'll also discover a myriad of dining options, from good old down home cooking, like our world-famous barbecue, to gourmet dining at its finest.

Plenty To Do And See

Since even the most avid golfer has to take an occasional break, you'll never be bored here. You can take in the beautiful natural scenery, hike and camp, experience wonderful festivals and special events, check out college and professional sports, stroll through museums and galleries, shop along bustling city streets or in small-town settings. Of course, you can just kick back and relax. Complete travel information and maps are available by calling 800-VISIT NC or logging onto www.visitnc.com.

International Visitors

Golf is a worldwide experience in North Carolina, and international visitors will find a warm welcome awaiting them.

Currency & Exchange

You can easily exchange your currency into U.S. dollars in banking facilities at the Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte/Douglas international airports. Hours of operation may vary. Hotels in North Carolina often do not exchange currency. In North Carolina, currency exchange is available at most branches of Bank of America and Wachovia. Assistance is available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Automatic teller machines (ATM) are widely available.

Credit Cards & Travelers Cheques

In North Carolina, major international credit cards are widely accepted by hotels, airlines, restaurants and retail stores. Traveler’s cheques are a safe and convenient way to carry your money, but they should be in U.S. dollar denominations.

Tipping

Tipping for good service is common practice, but gratuities are seldom included on the bill. It is customary to tip from 15 to 20 percent of the total bill for meals. Taxi drivers are generally tipped 15 percent and, in hotels and airports, a porter will expect approximately $1 per piece of luggage.

Air Transportation

North Carolina has nonstop service from Canada and Europe. The fares and conditions vary, according to the seasons, length of stay and even the day of the week. Generally, it is less expensive to purchase round-trip or connecting fares rather than several one-way segments. There are promotional fares available to non-residents, such as VUSA fares and air passes, which must be purchased before arrival in the United States. Travel agents will be able to advise on availability and purchase. Smoking is not permitted any domestic flight.

Car Rental

North Carolina recognizes a valid driver's license from other countries for hiring and driving a vehicle. If your license is not in English, an International License is suggested. Most rental car companies require a driver to be at least 25 years of age (for insurance purposes) and will often insist on a credit card. Otherwise, a large cash deposit may be required.

Trains

Two Amtrak routes between New York and Florida serve North Carolina's Coast and Heartland sections. Commuter service is available between Raleigh, the state capital, and Charlotte, the state's largest city. Amtrak offers a variety of regional and national passes.
